چکیده

The accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant has resulted in many cases of internal exposure to radionuclides. JAEA staff has examined the workers and the residents by measurement with a various type of whole body counters. The committed effective dose was estimated using the intake scenarios according to the object of monitoring and expected level of exposure. In the examination of more than 500 workers who were in the plant at early stage of the accident or engaged in disaster-mitigation activities, I, Te-I, Cs and Cs were detected and the maximum committed effective dose estimated based on the most severe scenario was 590 mSv. The monitoring for extended residents begun about 4 months after the accident. In this monitoring project, only Cs and Cs were detected instead of radioiodine.

Recent Fukushima nuclear detonation, Chernobyl nuclear fallout, three mile island nuclear accident and atomic bomb explosion – rethinking the effects of nuclear radiations over human health

Background: The earlier Atomic Bomb explosion in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and three worth mentioning nuclear accidents - detonation at Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, Chernobyl nuclear fallout and an accident at Three Mile Island nuclear power plant have made us more worried about the secure exploitation of nuclear energy. The central focus of this paper is to review radiation-mediated health e...

Assessment of atmospheric dispersion from ANPP hypothetical accident based on Fukushima accident by HYSPLIT model

The atmospheric dispersion of Materials is one of the most important ways of spreading contamination of a NPP accident. In this study, the particle paths were calculated by HYSPLIT model (both pressure and AGL form of trajectory) horizontally and vertically at 0 and 1.5 meters above ground level during 15-day periods for 23& 24 November 2006 start times. Then, the releases values of Fukushima a...

Concentrations of Radiocesium in Local Foods Collected in Kawauchi Village after the Accident at the Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Station

We evaluated the current concentrations of radiocesium in local foods collected in Kawauchi Village, which is located less than 30 km from Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, to minimize public anxiety regarding internal radiation exposure through the consumption of locally produced foods after the 2011 Fukushima accident. The number of samples exceeding the regulatory radiocesium limit (1...

Lessons from Chernobyl.

The Chernobyl disaster on April 26th, 1986, led to the emission of radioactive substances such as iodine-131 and radioactive cesium. As the Soviet Union did not control food distribution and intake, residents were exposed to high levels of internal radiation, leading to the internal radiation exposure of the thyroid gland by iodine-131. As a result, the number of people who had thyroid cancer i...

A comparison of the dose from natural radionuclides and artificial radionuclides after the Fukushima nuclear accident

Due to the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant (FDNPP) accident, the evacuees from Namie Town still cannot reside in the town, and some continue to live in temporary housing units. In this study, the radon activity concentrations were measured at temporary housing facilities, apartments and detached houses in Fukushima Prefecture in order to estimate the annual internal exposure dose of resid...
